Custodial Child Move Aways
Redlands Attorney Serving the Inland Empire
In years past, a non-custodial parent had very few options when the custodial ex-spouse decided to relocate with the child(ren). A custodial parent was virtually free to move the child anywhere in the country without legal recourse. In recent years, however, California move-away cases such as the LaMusga case have changed the legal landscape. It has now become extremely difficult to move a custodial child out of the jurisdiction of the non-custodial parent.
More than 10 years of California family law experience
I am attorney Lenita Skoretz. Parent relocation cases are among the most important and emotionally trying post-divorce legal issues that family law attorneys handle. With more than 10 years of experience, my law firm has been involved in many cases requiring extensive mediation and litigation, almost always at the expense to the child(ren) involved.
I handle all California family law cases involving:
- Move aways / parent relocation
- Divorce and child custody issues
- Visitation rights
- Paternity issues
- Post judgment modifications to orders
- Adoption and legal guardianship
When both parents agree with the move away petition, the relocation is far more likely to be approved by the courts. I can help you mediate an acceptable agreement that works for all parties.
You will be an important part of finding the right solution
Whether you are a custodial parent seeking to relocate with your child or a non-custodial parent seeking to block the move away, I can help. I believe that the collaborative process allows ample room to help you be part of a mediated, common-sense solution that works for everyone and protects the welfare of your family.
